Where's the money?
Alberta is the wealthiest province in Canada:
Where’s the money? - We have been a wealthy province for 50 years. If the conservative government is the gold standard, where is the money?
Where is the money?
Healthcare is struggling. Alberta is choosing to privatize services such as laundry, food, surgeries, and diagnostics.
Diagnostics did not work out; they tried it with Dynalife and then had to buy it back for more than they sold it for and rescue it. $31.5 Million.

Privatization - the cost has gone up by 66% over the last year, while in hospital surgeries, costs went up 12%

The cost of rebranding and splitting AHS up into five different areas quadruples the cost of managerial and government overhead. The richest province and people are dying in ER waiting rooms. People are waiting for extended periods for surgery.

Education: Alberta is paying 70% of funding per student to private schools. We have the distinct honour of funding public education for the lowest amount in all of Canada.
The UCP has increased the amount of education tax cities have to collect on their tax rolls. Urban areas are subsidizing rural areas - the money collected goes into the general revenue.
The UCP is building schools after 4 years of not keeping up with population growth. They are now paying to build private schools
They revamped the K - 6 curriculum without educator input. There were few to no resources - they are ideologically controlling the narrative that schools can present to students.
They are piloting the Grade 7 - 9 curriculum this year. It did have some teacher input. They are currently working on the Grade 10 - 12 curriculum.
The richest province and children who are struggling don’t get support; they get a diagnosis and are placed in a Connections/Behaviour program. No FSCD funding because there are not enough workers to process families, and supports are not in place for them. PUF is cancelled for public schools, yet private schools can still access it.

AISH to ADAP: They are cutting funding to AISH recipients by transferring them to ADAP. Cutting the support for medication - if you have private insurance, they become the first payer, and the government becomes the second payer. They have increased the amount that seniors have to pay for prescriptions. The richest province is not able to support its most vulnerable. Being on AISH/ADAP is a full-time job trying to ensure you can stretch $1740/$1540 to meet all your needs for the month.

Where’s the money?
Farmers/Land Owners: They have no choice but to allow oil and gas companies on their land to drill for oil and gas. They are given a contract to sign that shows where these companies can enter their land and where they are placing their wells. In return, the companies agree to pay a yearly amount for the loss of the land. In Alberta, the companies have bundled their non-producing wells, created junior companies, and sold them. Now farmers/land owners are not getting paid for their land - they can then request money from the provincial government to cover the costs - that money comes from taxpayers’ pockets. These companies have also reneged on their municipal taxes, and the provincial government has cut back funds, so Municipalities are having to charge their residents more money to be able to fix roads and infrastructure. Albertans are being handed the bill to clean up oil/gas wells and pipelines while companies are making $3,000/min profit on Alberta’s oil and gas.
