WE have heard there is some confusion about our purpose. We are here to help Albertans recall their MLAs if they are not acting in your best interests. Here is a slide show that outlines how recalls work. ABResistance.ca Recalls As part of our process, we started sharing information through our newsletters and research articles, as well as building community.

Measles Tracker - We now have the highest number of Measles Cases in the world, and to think it was almost eradicated 50 years ago. Thanks in part to Alberta, Canada has lost its Measles Eradication Status. https://www.alberta.ca/measles We are up to 1992 cases (up 9 from last week) so far in Alberta. This is the highest per capita measles count in all of North America (possibly the world). Unfortunately, we have more measles cases. There were questions in the legislature about 2500 measles cases in Alberta in 2025… Apparently, some cases were not officially reported???
Last year, 700,000 Albertans got the COVID-19 vaccine. This year, the Alberta Government chose to order 30% less and received 430,000 vaccines, then they are charging $100/vaccine.
Drug stores are administering COVID vaccines for an Alberta government administrative fee of $100 + a dispensing fee.
Here is a map you can check for availability.

Respiratory Dashboard - Here is a link to Alberta’s respiratory virus dashboard - including RSV, Flu, and COVID-19 cases. (Last updated December 6, 2025) 1 flu and 2 COVID, and 0 RSV patients in the ICU.

UCP Travels: Another trip South of the Border: MLAs Jennifer “Poop Cookie” Johnson and Shane “Bull Castrating” Getson will build on a year of engagement with U.S. state legislators at the Council of State Governments National Conference in Chicago.
Championing cross-border ties with U.S. lawmakers
Another one is gone - Nate “The AI writing legislation” Glubish is off to Abu Dhabi and Dubai for six days from Dec. 12 - 18th, no particular reason given other than site meetings.
The UCP MLAs have taken 72 trips and have been out of Canada for a total of 324 days.
This year, Dani has been gone for 44 days and has taken 9 trips out of Canada.
The Legislature sits for 13 out of 52 weeks in 2025. 13 weeks x 4 days (because they have Fridays off) = 52 days they are working for you at the legislature! (They have extended the fall sitting to Dec. 11th - an extra 7 days, then they are off until February. They have not yet released the 2026 calendar. Here is a link to the 2025 calendar, Legislative Assembly of Alberta *Days in yellow are the days they were at the Legislature. They are not governing for Albertans when you look at what they are cutting for citizens, and then have trips on our dime!

The UCP Caucus is down 2 members and is now at 46. There are 38 NDP MLAs and 2 Independents.

Peter Guthrie joins the Alberta Party as their new leader. He and Scott Sinclair have had meetings with Alberta Party members - They are continuing to fight to rename it - The Alberta Conservative Party. They are still waiting for Elections Alberta to approve it! Bonnie Critchley from Battle River/Crowfoot will be joining them as well. Scott Sinclair continues to sit as an Independent.
Justice Minister Amery took Aim at the two independents and has tabled a bill barring any party from using the names Conservative, Wildrose, Liberal etc.
(In the bill, he also grants himself immunity as the Attorney General of Alberta)

A Message from ABR (Alberta Resistance)
Recalls: We are up to 21 approved recalls, collecting signatures. More have initial approval. Nathan Neudorf’s is shaping up to be a “Nothing Burger.” But we have Danielle Smith, Rebecca Schulz, and Nate Glubish. So 20 UCP and 1 NDP Recall are active. OperationTotalRecall.ca has all the details on their page for you to check out who is recalled, what the recall websites are (to register as canvassers and to find out where to sign petitions) WE are doing it, Alberta - Together.
Which area that the Alberta government is working on concerns you the most?
Health Care ( hospitals- being able to transfer hospitals to other organizations to run, siloing health care, health care staff, vaccine accessibility, paying private facilities to do public surgeries, other.) They are now talking about allowing Doctors to have private/public practices where there is a pay-to-access service. It has not worked well in other countries, but Marlaina/Danielle wants to break public health care, so that’s where Alberta is heading.
Education (building charter and providing funding to support building, funding charter and private schools while public schools are struggling, firing Support staff during COVID lockdowns and not hiring them all back, not funding complex classrooms, the funding formula, not negotiating with teachers). News Flash - Webber Academy Calgary received over $5 million last year, and they donated $3.8 million to West Aspen Holdings. Since 2018, they have donated $73 million to this entity.
Webber Academy’s $70m Slush Fund - by the ATA rank and file
Oil and Gas (not capping abandoned wells, Mature Asset Strategy, Fracking, Pipelines. Taxpayers cover Oil and Gas companies’ taxes to municipalities and rent to farmers for their land with abandoned wells.
Eco Justice films 3 landowners’ stories
Alberta landowners react to well cleanup crisis - Ecojustice
Environment - Coal mining in the Rockies, Water conservation, developing the Little Smoky area, hunting, Oil and Gas well shutdowns, pipelines, others? Corb Lund has filed a Citizen Initiative to stop coal mining in the Rockies.
AISH/ADAP - Clawing back $200 from the federal government’s Canadian Disability Benefit for people on AISH and ADAP. Charging those in subsidized housing more - $200/month. or that they are moving all AISH recipients to ADAP, which will lower their monthly payment, and allow them to claw back more money if they are working. Currently, AISH recipients can earn over $1000 without money being deducted from their AISH payment. If they go on ADAP, they can only make $350 more. Here is a link to the information Understanding the proposed changes to AISH, the new Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP), (this may no longer be active and suggestions on how to respond to the ADAP survey.) There is a petition out that you can sign letting the government know you are against the transitioning of AISH recipients onto ADAP, which results in less money to live on.
Wildlife - the bills that the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife has introduced that allow using dogs to hunt cougars and bears, trapping of endangered animals, and nine trips out of Canada to promote/sell his Ministerial licenses to come hunt in Alberta, when his family owns an outfitting/hunting company, “Red Willow Outfitters.”
Are there any we have missed? Let us know.
Build Community: Albertans need to work together to educate and build community. Finding your people is important. We are starting to host Zoom meetings and setting up to connect people in communities across Alberta.
Town halls like the Accidental Advocate and Friends of Medicare are hosting Dr. Paul Parks. The Separatists and the Far right, like TBA (Take Back Alberta), are well-organized and have lots of money. We need to counter that with information and community. Be a part of the change. See our ABR Resistor Update
There are several opportunities to attend rallies and protests this week.
Join our Facebook page or a group in your area that shares events, information, and ideas on how to spread the word.
The Public Funds for Public Education campaign is off and running. At the Legislature on Thursday, there were canvassers with petitions and smiles! Each one of us can make a difference. Sign up to canvass here:
https://abfundspublicschools.ca/
or sign the petition; every signature counts.
If you haven’t joined our webpage yet, please do. We are sending out newsletters specifically for different areas of Alberta to get support for recalls. There are many jobs you can do. If you join our volunteer list, I will invite you to our “Recall Connect” group so you can connect directly with recalls that are looking for assistance.
Knowledge:
Talk to your friends and share what you know. Watching the Socials, we see more outrage and anger about what is happening to Health Care, Education, Social Services, and the Environment in this province. These areas affect everyone! It’s time to speak up.
(They only win if we give up!)
Wins this week -
We are working with other groups to show up at peaceful demonstrations around the province. For details, see our ABR Resistor Update.
AB Resistance is a small group of volunteers that pays for expenses solely through donations. Hosting town halls, printing, paying for websites, and social media software all cost money. If you would like to donate to our cause, please etransfer to abrdonate@gmail.com. We are a third-party advertiser, which means we report to Alberta Elections. When you donate, please include your name, address, and postal code in the message. The question is “What province do we live in? = Alberta, even if you don’t live here. It makes it easier for our CFO to accept your money. Thanks to everyone who has already donated. You can now sign up for our Substack. We will be publishing extra articles that uncover what the government is doing. By joining, you help us to fund townhalls, print materials, and get the word out to the public.
ABResistance has a “Speaker Series” - They are coming! One coming up is with Jenny Yeremiy on December 15th - she launched the Recall for Nicolaides. 7:00 pm Monday, December 15th. The Zoom link is 277 275 5886

Smith wasn’t even in the chambers to vote.
Orders Approved – December 10, 2025: Orders in Council
Here’s what they mean to Albertans
376 - 380 Energy - These entries appear to be enacting amendments to regulations under the Mines and Minerals Act and related legislation. They focus on resource management, royalties, and carbon sequestration in the energy sector:
381 - Wildlife - gives the Governor in Council’s authority to make regulations, including provisions established jointly with the Minister (typically the Minister of Forestry and Parks). What It Covers
The “Joint Authority” in the title refers to regulatory provisions that require joint approval between the Lieutenant Governor in Council and the Minister. Under the Wildlife Regulation (AR 143/97, the primary regulation under the Act):
Certain key sections are established jointly, including:
Sections 5 and 6 (likely related to licensing or authorizations).
Sections 153 and 154 (administrative or enforcement provisions).
Schedule 1 (critical tables defining open seasons, bag limits, or species-specific rules for hunting and trapping).
383 Forestry section 14 of Alberta’s Foreign Ownership of Land Regulations (FOLR), which administers restrictions on foreign ownership of “controlled land” (primarily private rural, agricultural, and recreational lands outside urban areas).
Key Effects
Exemption Granted: It excludes a specific land transaction from most FOLR restrictions. Absorbent Fiber Topco, Inc. (a foreign entity, likely U.S.-based as the parent company in a 2025 divestiture) or its current/future affiliates can acquire fee simple interest (full ownership) in certain unspecified lands in Alberta.
Purpose-Restricted: The exemption applies only for:
Operating a pulp mill.
Managing related forestry operations and improvements.
Operating energy generation facilities (e.g., biomass or cogeneration common in pulp mills).
Partial Exemption: Sections 22 and 25 of the FOLR still apply. These typically cover:
Section 22: Reporting and disclosure requirements for foreign interests.
Section 25: Potential divestiture orders if the land use deviates from approved purposes or if foreign control changes inappropriately.
384: Jobs, economy, etc, etc. Order in Council under section 138 of Alberta’s Employment Standards Code (RSA 2000, c E-9). Section 138 grants the Lieutenant Governor in Council the broad authority to make regulations respecting any matter under the Code, including prescribing details, exemptions, forms, procedures, and administrative rules. The Lieutenant Governor and the council can make changes without bringing a bill to the legislature. They can to make or amend regulations—the detailed rules that implement the Act. (Worth watching to see how it is implemented in future Orders in Council.)
385 Environment What This Affects: Amendment to the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan, which empowers the Lieutenant Governor in Council to establish, amend, or repeal regional plans.
Primary Impact
Amends the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan (SSRP): The SSRP (originally effective 2014, previously amended in 2017 and 2018) is a statutory land-use plan covering southern Alberta, including major areas like Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and the eastern slopes of the Rockies. It guides government decisions on land, resources, and development to balance economic growth, environmental protection, and social needs.
Likely Specific Changes
Based on ongoing provincial processes, this amendment most probably incorporates the Upper Smoky Sub-regional Plan (and its regulatory details) into the SSRP as a temporary measure.
The Upper Smoky area (in the northwest, focused on caribou recovery and resource management) lacks a completed regional plan (Upper Peace Region is pending).
Public consultation on this incorporation ran earlier in 2025 (e.g., survey closed June 2025), allowing the sub-regional plan’s rules on recreation, forestry, energy, and conservation to take effect sooner by embedding them in the existing SSRP. ( Also worth watching as the Government opens up coal mining in the Rockies and are turning wildlife areas into recreational areas)
386 Agriculture: Amends the Agriculture Financial Services Regulation (AR 99/2002): Updates the detailed rules governing the operations of the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC), a provincial Crown corporation.
AFSC Programs Affected: AFSC provides key supports to Alberta farmers and agri-businesses, including:
Crop insurance and risk management.
Livestock price insurance.
Wildlife damage compensation.
Farm loans and lending programs.
Income stabilization and disaster assistance.
Commercial loans and other financial services.
387-392 Parks/Sports and Tourism: Why are they making the changes to these provincial parks?
Impact on the Areas:
Castle Wildland Provincial Park: Boundary adjusted to exclude or reconfigure land around Castle Mountain Resort, allowing year-round operations and potential expansions (e.g., summer activities like hiking, mountain biking).
Evan-Thomas Provincial Recreation Area: Likely adjusted (possibly removing protections from portions) to support Nakiska’s all-season designation, as Evan-Thomas wraps around or borders Nakiska.
Spray Valley Provincial Park: Boundary changed to remove approximately 131 hectares for Fortress Mountain Resort expansions.
These adjustments remove certain lands from full park protections (e.g., stricter rules on development in provincial parks/recreation areas) to enable year-round tourism infrastructure, while keeping most ski terrain under appropriate oversight. The changes affect less than 0.03% of Alberta’s overall park system.
Recalls: Recall petition targeting Alberta UCP MLAs
3 more UCP MLAs and 1 NDP MLA facing recalls
Tourism and Sport: Castle, Fortress, and Nakiska have been designated as Alberta’s first all-season resort areas, making it easier for people to stay and play year-round.
US Trade: Trump’s point man on trade hints at a deal separately with Canada and Mexico, a possible combined trade deal on some things, or continuing with CUSMA. With Trump, it’s anyone’s guess.
US Travels: Canadians are not travelling to the States, throttling tourism dollars.
Thursday Dec. 11,
Auditor General: Recommends improvement to health care performance reporting - after Alberta Health took over AHS.
Child Care: Most provinces signed a 5-year child care deal with the Federal Government, Alberta for 1 year. It expires in March of 2027,
Alberta’s government and the Government of Canada have extended the current child care agreement to give families stability and keep child care affordable.
Education: Alberta School Funding referendum -81% of Albertans don’t want to fund private schools.
Fall Session of the Legislature: A turbulent 6 weeks - a total of 30 days, 14 pieces of Legislation passed, 4 notwithstanding clauses used, and with little to no time to debate.
Federal: Rahim Jaffar is mulling a federal byelection run for the Conservative Party.
Government: The fall 2025 session focused on strengthening health care, improving education, attracting investment and making life better for Albertans.
Health Care: Flu cases strain Alberta hospitals.
Opinion: fix the Health Care Foundation before adding dual practice ( will they listen? I don’t think so)
AHS, under the government, Andre Trembla,y former Deputy Minister of Health, was the CEO. So this was under Alberta Health, carrying the Alberta Health Services name. Don’t be fooled - The Alberta government was directly responsible for this.
Auditor General finds anecdotal info used in reports, not actual facts, in wait time reporting.
A 70% jump in lab-confirmed cases of influenza in Alberta in December.
Minister of Technology and Innovation: Nate Glubish will travel to the UAE to expand partnerships and promote Alberta as a destination for innovation and investment. The office is located within the Embassy of Canada (9th Floor, Abu Dhabi Trade Towers / Abu Dhabi Mall, West Tower, Abu Dhabi, UAE). It focuses on promoting Alberta’s interests in energy, innovation, agriculture, manufacturing, AI, and logistics, while supporting Alberta companies in accessing Middle East and North Africa markets and attracting foreign investment. Gain a deeper understanding of the UAE’s advanced AI and health innovation ecosystems.(This should not be a cause for concern, said no one ever.)
As of December 13, 2025, staff recruitment is underway, and the office is not yet fully staffed or operational with a permanent lead. No specific name for the managing director or lead person has been publicly announced. (We find this odd)
Oil and gas: Smith and Polilivre on the same side of pipeline deal. And Alberta is passing the bill for orphan well clean-up to the public.
Bell: Danielle Smith remains Poilievre’s pal as he slams pipeline pact | Calgary Herald
Alberta passing the bill for orphan well cleanup to the public: new report – CTVNews
Alberta Energy Regulator ignored its own rules, data suggests | The Narwhal
Order Approved – December 11, 2025: Order in Council (Left over from the Seasonal Recreational ones passed yesterday)
PR: Danielle Smith’s Government awarded a $300,000 sole-source contract to a PR firm for the Alberta Next Panel - their logic was that Carney won the election. Surprise, the company awarded the contract is from England - Mash Strategy, formerly Mash Media. *They have two employees in Edmonton.(We find this funny after criticizing the NDP for using a company from the US)
Transportation: Travel East of Calgary is discouraged. Road conditions are poor.
UCP: House Speaker Schow speaks to reporters at the conclusion of the fall sitting.
Friday Dec 12,
AISH: Cam Tait’s article on Alberta’s Bill 12 harming the disabled community.
Arts, Culture and the Status of Women: Alberta ensures children and youth continue enjoying fun, free experiences at provincial museums and historic sites.
ATA: The Alberta Teachers’ Association launches a labour complaint against the Alberta Government.
Boycott: Canada’s boycott as a result of Trump’s policies is hitting border states.
Calgary Transit: Calgary shuttle bus catches on fire. Everyone is safe.
Coal Petition: Corb Lund must relaunch his anti-coal citizen initiative under new rules in Bill 14.
Edmonton Fires: Be careful in this cold weather; fires pose a risk.
Environment: Alberta’s government has released new guidance to help reduce confusion and speed up land reclamation across the province.
Flooding: The Refusal of the Alberta Government to share its flooding plan makes it difficult to know if the province is ready for another disaster.
Health: The two-tier health care bill threatens all of Canada.
Homelessness: Red Deer records two deaths possibly from cold exposure.
Recalls: Nathan Neudorf assures constituents he has no relationship to Ryan Tanner, the recall Petitioner.
Recalls to get $6.7 million to process recalls.
Transportation: Bus crash south of Athabasca on Hwy 2 leaves 2 junior hockey players in hospital and numerous injuries among the remaining 14 passengers. Icy roads to blame.
West of Center: Is this a turning point in Canadian History?
