ABR Resistor Update
November 27, 2025
RECENT NEWS
Alberta Resistance believes that ALL Albertans have the right to be informed. If you have events to advertise, please reach out to us either on our Facebook page, our website, or at abresistance2027@gmail.com.
***************************************
You keep showing up! You are doing it - The UCP is refusing to fund Elections Alberta to check the petition signatures. Call your MLA, and copy it to the opposition if they are UCP. We need to push back and track the emails, letters, and calls we are making.
If you have not yet signed up on our website abresistance.ca please do so - we are creating lists of people in constituencies so we can send out emails to specific constituencies for support in events where recalls are happening or if there is an event coming to your area we can let you know.
Alberta! You are doing it! 14 Recalls now up and running: If you belong to these constituencies, your MLA has a recall - Calgary Bow, Calgary Fish Creek, Calgary North, Calgary North West, Airdrie East, Grande Prairie, Highwood, Morinville - St. Albert, Camrose, Lethbridge East, Red Deer South, and Spruce Grove - Stony Plain.
Check out their Facebook pages and signing locations - We will post them on our Facebook as they come up. OperationTotalRecall.ca is another resource you can check out. It’s really happening!
There are more recalls submitted and are going through the process. Is your constituency one of them?

Check Facebook, Instagram, and Recall Facebook pages. The Government is noticing - Asking for Volunteers in their constituencies, posting defensive letters on Facebook, having meetings about Classroom Complexity, and asking school boards for numbers, as well as talking about adding 1000 acute care beds in a Presser. Thank you all for stepping up and showing that the People have the Power!!!

Last week, the Coalition for Responsible Energy (C4RE) released new public opinion polling from Janet Brown Opinion Research, showing that “a supermajority of Albertans want oil & gas companies held accountable for the costs of cleanup, unpaid municipal taxes, and unpaid compensation to landowners.”
Highlights include:
92% support oil and gas companies being responsible for the final clean-up of wells
87% support the government requiring the industry to cover unpaid property taxes to municipalities
84% support the government requiring the industry to cover unpaid rents to landowners
This new polling comes in the midst of rising public outrage over the provincial government’s Mature Asset Strategy (MAS), a plan that will weaken industry accountability for oilfield cleanup, water down reclamation standards, and push even more costs onto the Alberta taxpayer.

Albertans United To Stop The UCP
PROTEST ANNOUNCEMENT: A Silent Stand for Alberta
When: Saturday, November 29, 2025
Time: Starting at 1:00 PM
Location: Edmonton EXPO Centre (outside the main entrance/public access area)
Our Actions Will Speak Volumes
This demonstration will be focused on quiet, powerful symbolism:
Silent Vigil: We will stand together in complete silence, our presence alone making the statement. Bring a candle (battery-operated preferred for safety) or a single white flower to symbolize mourning for lost services and programs.
Symbolic Attire: Please wear black as a sign of mourning for the state of our province’s future.
Quiet Reflection: We will observe a moment of silence to reflect on the impacts of current policies on our communities, healthcare, and environment.
Powerful Visuals: Feel free to bring respectful, hand-held signs that clearly state your concerns (e.g., “R.I.P. Healthcare,” “Mountains Not Mines,” “Save Our Schools”).
The goal is to create a stark contrast to the events happening inside the venue and force observers to focus on the seriousness of our message.
Let’s show that our concern runs deep and our resolve is strong.
Please respect the venue’s rules and ensure all actions remain peaceful, safe, and respectful.

In this interactive session, participants will learn some key principles needed to develop a dynamic grassroots strategy and ways to assess its effectiveness as it is deployed on the ground. You’ll hear interview clips from experienced movement elders and organizers and get some practice with developing a strategy and tactics for a hypothetical campaign scenario.”

December 13th, Saturday – Margaret Atwood in Conversation: “Capping off our fabulous 50th Anniversary year, Audreys Books is thrilled to announce that the legendary Margaret Atwood has added one extra stop to the tour for her memoir, Book of Lives. In an exclusive visit on December 13, she will visit Edmonton to show her solidarity with libraries and other institutions fighting book bans in Canada and internationally. A portion of ticket sales for this event will be donated to the Edmonton Public Library.
Join us at the Edmonton Convention Centre for what promises to be a fascinating conversation.
Book & Ticket bundles include a copy of Atwood’s new memoir, ‘Book of Lives’. Purchase of the bundle entitles you to an entry into a draw to exchange your copy for one of several limited signed copies of the book. General Admission tickets do not include a copy of the book, and are not eligible for the draw. Books will be on sale at the event. There will be no book signing.
Doors open at 6.30 pm.”

December 15th, Monday – UBI Works x Common Wealth Canada 2025 Town Hall: “Earlier this month (November), Senate Bill S-206 for a Guaranteed Livable Basic Income passed 2nd Reading and is now on its way to Committee. We’re excited to announce that Senator Kim Pate, the bill’s sponsor, will be a keynote speaker at our upcoming UBI Works x Common Wealth Canada 2025 Town Hall.
I invite you to join us. We’ll showcase basic income wins and challenges of the year, highlights of our work on housing and fair tax reform, and take a look forward to 2026.”
Time: 5pm MT
Location: Zoom
Register: UBI Works
The Alberta Next Panel conversations are based on the Free Alberta Strategy authored by Barry Cooper, Derek From, and Rob Anderson (Danielle Smith’s Chief of Staff): https://www.freealbertastrategy.com/the_strategy
They also have a website: https://www.freealbertastrategy.com/
They are organized and have money. We need to stand up and show that we oppose their plans. We made them blink on the expense account, book bans, complex classrooms in public schools (this week) and vaccines for healthcare workers. We have the power! Keep making noise!

How To Win!
Canada Geese are fierce defenders of their territory and their family/group. They work together when they are flying South, so everyone gets there. They are fiercely loyal and protect their families and community. Like the geese, some of us have to rest and regroup, but we keep honking encouragement to the ones in the front breaking the wind so we can take it easy. Then, when it’s our turn, we take the lead and do the hard stuff. Reposting stuff on social media, calling out lies with the facts that people are posting, standing up, and letting someone who is putting down the other political parties know it’s not ok. Standing up for teachers and education in Alberta. Supporting the AUPE Health Care workers who are going on strike. Being kind to healthcare workers, getting vaccinated, and reposting YYCCOWBOY’s and Frazzlehead’s substack on healthcare in Alberta each week. Supporting independent writers and podcasters is one of the ways we can keep the message going. Supporting a political party that shares your views. Sharing what you know with family and friends. Let’s make it go viral. It’s not over until we all give up, and We Aren’t Giving Up. Thanks for joining the Resistance.
Let’s all work together to make Alberta work for everyone!
