TOWN HALLS - ABR is hitting the road. Stay tuned as we set up more town halls. (We may have to postpone this. In light of teachers being forced back to work, we have lots of inquiries about Recalls.)
****************************************
The Speaker Series is back!!! Look for the videos on our YouTube Channel ABResistance. All Speakers Series allow time for Questions following Presentations, which are about 60 minutes long.
Please forward to anyone you think may be interested in these Issues of Concern.
************************’
Check Facebook, Instagram and Recall Facebook pages as well as OperationTotalRecall.ca for signing locations on a daily basis for the Approved Recalls. The Government is noticing - Asking for Volunteers in their constituencies, posting defensive letters on Facebook, having meetings about Classroom Complexity, and asking school boards for numbers, as well as talking about adding 1000 acute care beds in a Presser. Thank you all for stepping up and showing that the People have the Power!!!
Stand with Alberta Educators.

Parkland Institute 29th Annual Fall Conference
Democracy Under Siege:
Strengthening the Safeguards
Parkland Institute’s 29th Annual Fall Conference
November 21 – 23, 2025
We are living through extraordinary times — times that would have seemed unthinkable just a few years ago. Around the world, autocracy is on the rise. The new U.S. regime threatens the sovereignty of these lands currently called Canada. Here at home, misinformation and corruption have taken hold in Alberta’s government. The pillars of liberal democracy are crumbling under the strain of growing authoritarianism.
This year’s Parkland Institute conference confronts these urgent threats head-on. We’ll take a hard look at the political institutions meant to act as guardrails against autocracy and ask how well they are faring in this role. More importantly, we’ll start a conversation about how we can strengthen those institutions, defend our struggling democracy, repel the current threat, and create a future that is built on the foundations of equality, justice, and solidarity.

November 25th, Tuesday – Webinar: Pensions, Climate Risk and the Law: The Legal Case Against the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board: “Join us for a conversation with Ecojustice, Canada’s largest environmental law charity that’s taken on the case, and two of the young Canadians taking CPPIB to court. They’ll explore how this legal action could reshape pension fund responsibilities in the era of climate crisis – and share why they’ve taken up this fight for retirement security in a safe climate future.
The lawsuit alleges that CPPIB is breaching its fiduciary duty by investing billions in fossil fuel companies without adequately addressing the systemic risks climate change poses to the Canada Pension Plan. The applicants are asking the court to affirm that the fund must act in the best long-term interests of all Canadians by managing climate risks responsibly.
This case is more than a legal milestone – it’s a turning point in how we think about our pensions, our future and our shared responsibility to protect both.”

Are you concerned about the Environment?
Corb Lund is starting a Citizen’s Initiative to stop Coal Mining in the Rockies

Keeping this here for one more week -

The Alberta Environment Network
https://www.calgaryclimatehub.ca/c4re Coalition for Responsible Energy
(I love this poster)
They hosted Alberta’s Scariest Story Town Hall - and they are organizing.
Dear friends and allies,
On Wednesday night, February 5th, nearly 200(!!!) of you came together in Calgary to reject the Alberta government’s plans for new coal mining in the Rockies, and an oil well cleanup scheme that puts company profits over clean water and public services.
In a packed room at the Royal Canadian Legion #1, we heard from leaders and organizers from the Alberta Beyond Coal and Clean up your Mess campaigns, including:
Chris Spearman, former Lethbridge mayor and leader of Water for Food
Dwight Popowich, landowner and alfalfa farmer from Two Hills, AB
Ella Haggis, organizing manager, Alberta Environmental Network
Phillip Meintzer, co-founder and campaign organizer, Coalition for Responsible Energy
Molli Bennett, co-anchor, Common Horizon Calgary
We also had a surprise guest speaker – a Calgary public high school teacher – who shared his outrage at the provincial government, which is willing to use public money as a handout to oil and gas companies, but refuses to invest in our kids and their futures.
This is before the event, the venue was packed!
With all of these issues, our provincial government is putting the interests of fossil energy companies and their bottom line above the interests of all Albertans, our ecosystems, our tax dollars, and our future. All while the government claims there are no resources for teachers and our public services.
To close out the evening, we offered a few ways that Albertans can get involved with these campaigns to stop the province’s “Mature Asset Strategy” (MAS) and the Coal Industry Modernization Initiative (CIMI), including:
Attend a “Speak to your MLA” training with Environmental Defence Canada to learn how to meet and speak with your elected representatives.
Help the Alberta Environmental Network with phone-banking on the coal mining issue.
Host a house meeting with Common Horizon Calgary to let your friends, family, and loved ones know how to fight back against the province’s oil well cleanup scheme.
If you didn’t sign up for any of the actions outlined above, but would still like to participate, please contact Phillip Meintzer at: phillip@ResponsibleEnergyAB.ca, and he will direct you to the relevant group or person to get you involved!
Wednesday showed something clear and important: Albertans are fed up with a government that treats them as second-class citizens behind the wishes of fossil fuel executives and their shareholders – and now, we’re getting organized!
Solidarity,
Phillip

They are organized and have money. We need to stand up and show that we oppose their plans. We made them blink on the expense account, book bans, complex classrooms in public schools (this week) and vaccines for healthcare workers. We have the power! Keep making noise!

How To Win!
Canada Geese are fierce defenders of their territory and their family/group. They work together when they are flying South, so everyone gets there. They are fiercely loyal and protect their families and community. Like the geese, some of us have to rest and regroup, but we keep honking encouragement to the ones in the front breaking the wind so we can take it easy. Then, when it’s our turn, we take the lead and do the hard stuff. Reposting stuff on social media, calling out lies with the facts that people are posting, standing up, and letting someone who is putting down the other political parties know it’s not ok. Standing up for teachers and education in Alberta. Supporting the AUPE Health Care workers who are going on strike. Being kind to healthcare workers, getting vaccinated, and reposting YYCCOWBOY’s and Frazzlehead’s substack on healthcare in Alberta each week. Supporting independent writers and podcasters is one of the ways we can keep the message going. Supporting a political party that shares your views. Sharing what you know with family and friends. Let’s make it go viral. It’s not over until we all give up, and We Aren’t Giving Up. Thanks for joining the Resistance.
Let’s all work together to make Alberta work for everyone!
