You keep showing up! You are doing it - We have two recalls approved and collecting signatures - Nicolaides in Calgary Bow and Pitt in Airdrie East! Many more have been filed. The UCP is refusing to fund Elections Alberta to check the petition signatures. Call your MLA, and copy it to the opposition if they are UCP. We need to push back and track the emails, letters, and calls we are making.
Red Deer and Medicine Hat continue to show up week after week to protest. They are on Week 37!
Medicine Hat - Saturday
Address TransCanada Way/13th Ave. Time 10:30 - 11:30 am
Red Deer - Saturday
Address Adriana LaGrange’s Office on the corner of 202-5913 50 Ave, Red Deer,
Time 10:30 - 11:30
You can participate. Gather a few friends, make some signs, “Get out there to make some good trouble!” (Let us know, and we can post your weekly gatherings here.)

Sign the Public Funds for Public Education Petition! We have a way to make our voices heard; let’s all participate. They will be collecting petitions at rallies, sporting and concert events, and in your neighborhoods.

TOWN HALLS - ABR is hitting the road. Stay tuned as we set up more town halls. (We may have to postpone this. In light of teachers being forced back to work, we have lots of inquiries about Recalls.)

Lindsay --
Let’s start a conversation about a well-being economy.
On November 13 the Parkland Institute will host a free public event in Calgary.
Are you concerned about:
declining public services
widening social and economic inequalities, and the increasing concentration of wealth and power
destruction of environments; and
ideological extremism?
Please join us in a conversation exploring the “root causes” of our intersecting societal challenges, and to envision an alternative to an economic system that values power and profit over the well-being of all people and our planet.
Thursday November 13
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Board Room, Montgomery Community Association
5003 16 Ave NW, CalgaryWe look forward to seeing you there!

Parkland Institute 29th Annual Fall Conference
Democracy Under Siege:
Strengthening the Safeguards
Parkland Institute’s 29th Annual Fall Conference
November 21 – 23, 2025
We are living through extraordinary times — times that would have seemed unthinkable just a few years ago. Around the world, autocracy is on the rise. The new U.S. regime threatens the sovereignty of these lands currently called Canada. Here at home, misinformation and corruption have taken hold in Alberta’s government. The pillars of liberal democracy are crumbling under the strain of growing authoritarianism.
This year’s Parkland Institute conference confronts these urgent threats head-on. We’ll take a hard look at the political institutions meant to act as guardrails against autocracy and ask how well they are faring in this role. More importantly, we’ll start a conversation about how we can strengthen those institutions, defend our struggling democracy, repel the current threat, and create a future that is built on the foundations of equality, justice, and solidarity.

Are you concerned about the Environment?
Check out these groups in Calgary
https://aenweb.ca The Alberta Environment Network
https://www.calgaryclimatehub.ca/c4re Coalition for Responsible Energy
(I love this poster)
They hosted Alberta’s Scariest Story Town Hall - and they are organizing.
This was a paper sign-up. I will investigate further if they are going to create a digital sign-up - you can use the contact us information to indicate an interest.
Commit to a Zoom meeting over lunch hour to learn the main points of environmental issues with Coal and Oil & Gas in Alberta, so you can talk to your MLAs about it.
Plan a House Meeting/or you can plan this in your favorite coffee shop. In Calgary, they will come to your meeting with your nearest and dearest and present some facts about what is happening with the environment—think of it as an Informational Tupperware Party that your mom might have had. You just have to invite them, provide refreshments, and sit back while the experts share the message.
They are starting a phone bank. They have friendly people who have signed up at events asking for more information, they are organizing afternoon sessions of people getting together and making phone calls.
The brilliant thing is there were young people signing up and excited about these possibilities, to create community and share information! Stay tuned for details on how you can get involved in Calgary - and the rest of Alberta. Let’s think about how we can do this, depending on your areas of concern!

The Alberta Next Panel conversations are based on the Free Alberta Strategy authored by Barry Cooper, Derek From, and Rob Anderson (Danielle Smith’s Chief of Staff): https://www.freealbertastrategy.com/the_strategy
They also have a website:

They are organized and have money. We need to stand up and show that we oppose their plans. We made them blink on the expense account, book bans, and vaccines for healthcare workers. We have the power! Keep making noise!

How We Win!
We have to be like the Canada Geese. They are fierce defenders of their territory and their family/group. They work together when they are flying South, so everyone gets there. Like the geese, some of us have to rest and regroup, but we keep honking encouragement to the ones in the front breaking the wind so we can take it easy. Then, when it’s our turn, we take the lead and do the hard stuff. Reposting stuff on social media, calling out lies with the facts that people are posting, standing up, and letting someone who is putting down the other political parties know it’s not ok. Standing up for teachers and education in Alberta. Being kind to healthcare workers, getting vaccinated, and reposting YYCCOWBOY’s and Frazzlehead’s substack on healthcare in Alberta each week. Supporting independent writers and podcasters is one of the ways we can keep the message going. Supporting a political party that shares your views. Sharing what you know with family and friends. Let’s make it go viral. It’s not over until we all give up, and We Aren’t Giving Up. Thanks for joining the Resistance.
Let’s all work together to make Alberta work for everyone!
